Gentle Upper Cervical Care for Children

Every parent wants to do right by their child, and choosing a type of care for them deserves time and good information. At Specific Chiropractic in Boca Raton, Dr. Evan Hasson offers an upper cervical approach that focuses on the atlas (C1) and the axis (C2), the top two bones of the neck. For children the approach is very gentle. There is no twisting, no cracking and no high-force movement. We proudly welcome families from Boca Raton, Delray Beach, West Boca, Deerfield Beach, Coconut Creek, Boynton Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Wellington, Palm Beach County, Broward County and the Miami area.

What Makes Care Different for Kids

A child is not a small adult, so care is adapted to the child. Contact is light, and may be made by hand or with an instrument-assisted tool, using minimal force. Nothing is decided in advance. Every plan is individualized after a thorough history and exam, and if the findings do not point to a need, we will tell you so.

Common Reasons Parents Bring Their Children

Parents most often come to us because of neck stiffness, posture concerns, headaches that may be neck-related, or a wellness alignment check. Some families also come after a minor fall, a sports bump or a difficult birth, once the child has been medically cleared. Upper cervical care is not a treatment for medical conditions such as ear infections, asthma, ADHD or colic. Always consult your child's pediatrician for medical concerns.

Your Child's First Visit

We keep the first visit relaxed and friendly, and parents are with their child the whole time. We begin with a health history, including birth history and developmental milestones. Next comes an age-appropriate exam and a posture and alignment assessment. Dr. Hasson then explains what he found in plain language, and we review informed consent together. A gentle correction is made only if it is indicated, and you can ask questions or pause at any point.

Safety Comes First

We use low-force techniques and screen every child carefully. Adverse events are rare with proper screening, and we will refer your child to a medical provider whenever the findings call for it. Red flags that need medical attention first include a recent trauma with neurological symptoms, severe unexplained pain, fever with neck stiffness, and developmental regression. If you see any of these, call your pediatrician or go to the nearest emergency room. We are glad to coordinate with your pediatrician, and our care follows principles consistent with published best-practice guidelines.
