Chiropractic Techniques in Boca Raton
Dr. Evan Hasson, a Palmer College of Chiropractic graduate with more than 10 years in practice, is trained in several specific techniques. No two spines are alike, so he uses your exam and imaging findings to choose the approach that fits you.
Knee Chest
Knee Chest comes from B.J. Palmer's Hole-In-One (HIO) work. He proclaimed the principle in the spring of 1930, presented it in 1931 and wrote it up in his 1934 text. Palmer held that the top two neck bones are where interference to the nervous system arises, so one precise contact is the whole job. The patient kneels on a supported table to relax the muscles.
NUCCA
This technique grew out of the Grostic lineage. Dr. R.R. Gregory led the founding of the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association on April 16, 1966. Its philosophy is a low-force, atlas-focused approach that relies on precise measurement before and after each adjustment.
Grostic
Dr. John F. Grostic began teaching the Grostic Procedure in 1946, after working with Dr. R.R. Gregory from 1941 and building on B.J. Palmer's upper cervical work. Its philosophy is that the atlas matters most, but is best addressed with careful X-ray measurement and a lighter, quicker adjustment instead of a heavy one.
Atlas Orthogonal
Dr. Roy Sweat, who had studied and taught the Grostic Procedure, developed Atlas Orthogonal and began teaching it in 1980. Its goal is to align the atlas at right angles to the skull and neck. Dr. Sweat introduced a small instrument so the adjustment would be consistent from one practitioner to the next, with no turning of the head or neck.
Advanced Orthogonal
Advanced Orthogonal stems from Atlas Orthogonal and has its roots in the Grostic Procedure. It shares their philosophy of precise X-ray analysis and a light, ultra specific adjustment instead of a general one. Dr. Hasson can explain how it applies to your exam findings.
Palmer Toggle Recoil
The toggle recoil is the thrust B.J. Palmer paired with his Hole-In-One approach, which he introduced in the spring of 1930. It is a quick, light, specific movement followed by an immediate release. The philosophy is that one precise adjustment at the top of the spine, rather than many, lets the body's own healing ability work.
